A range of materials are used in Gecko Bows, including timber, fibreglass, brass, specialty epoxies and glue, finishes and strings.
Timber
Timbers in various combinations are used for performance and/or appearance. A sample of the timbers used can be seen below.
No engineered timbers are used, all timbers are carefully selected from local suppliers.
For the Riser or Handle a medium to high density timber is preferred for both strength and weight purposes. Some of the experimental bows have used alternate materials such as Brass to increase the properties required.
For Limbs a more flexible timber is optimum, some of the bows use a hardwood veneer laminated to a bamboo core for optimum performance, response and consistency.
